It’s a blessing and a privilege to be a Christian. Jesus made such a great sacrifice for us to be called the children of God. He paid the price, and we reap the benefits. All we have to do is believe and start our Christian journey.
Once we start, there are so many things we have to learn. Thank God for good teachers and pastors who watch over our souls. And thank God for the instruction manual, which is the Word of God. It has everything we need to know to inherit eternal life.
“Not everyone that saith unto me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 7:21 Many people who identify themselves as Christians expect to inherit eternal life, but they don’t live like Christians. This is because they are unaware of what’s required of them. They don’t know because they haven’t been taught, and they hardly ever read the Word of God.
We must learn to live like Christians. We need to listen to good pastors and teachers who have dedicated their lives to living holy and have been called by God to speak His word. Then, we must apply what we hear to our lives. Being taught the Word of God nourishes our spirit, and we grow stronger in Christ.
We must also read and study the word ourselves. Reading the Bible is not like reading other books. The Bible is sacred, and it’s not easy to understand. We must sincerely ask God to prepare our hearts and minds to understand it.
When we read something in the Bible or are taught something that goes against our lifestyle, we must be willing to change so that we can live like Christians. God will help us if we ask Him. We’re required to have a different lifestyle from that of the world. “Wherefore come out from among them and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.” 2 Corinthians 6:17
The world needs to see Christ in us. Let’s show the world that there are Christians who live like Christians. Be an example of righteous living.
