A Christian who has courage has the ability to do the right thing even when it’s unpopular. Sometimes, taking a stand for what is right can seem hard when you’re faced with so many who don’t agree with you, but if you are willing to obey God, He’ll give you the courage to stand.
As Christians, we have a godly conscience. It lets us know when we’re faced with sin or unrighteousness. Sometimes we’re invited to participate in something that we know is wrong. We worry about what people will say, how we’ll be perceived, or if we’ll be rejected if we refuse. It takes courage to take a stand and say “No”.
God lets us know that when we stand for righteousness, He stands with us. That gives us courage. Isaiah 41:10 says, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Now that’s reassurance.
We’re living in a time when right is called wrong, and wrong is called right. Christians are the ones who have to have the courage to stand up for righteousness. The world is in the dark chaos of sin, and we have to be the light. “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.” Matthew 5:14
This is a call to all Christians to encourage you not to compromise God’s standard for Christian living. Sin has become so popular, so normal, so widely accepted, that it takes real courage to stand against it, but we have to embrace a holy lifestyle. God is our help, and we have a rich reward if we just have the courage to stand.
