God's Classroom: Get the Lesson

Greetings Balanced Life Family,

Life is full of experiences. We all have them. Some are good and some are not, but they all have a purpose. When I was a child, my mother always told me that everything happens for a reason and has a purpose. Then I didn’t fully understand, but now I know that she meant the events in life, the problems, trials, misfortunes, even victories, and so on, that occur in life have a purpose. God uses experiences to teach us.

Sometimes we go through life’s experiences and never realize that we’re in God’s classroom. It’s important to get the lesson. We should learn from our experiences. When we experience a problem, trial, or misfortune, the experience can teach us how to be strong, patient, faithful, humble, forgiving, or merciful. There are many lessons to learn. Always remember the scripture says “…but we glory in tribulations also, knowing that tribulation worketh patience, and patience experience, and experience hope.” Romans 5:3-4

Sometimes we experience victories, promotions, or favor. God can use these experiences to teach us lessons as well. The lessons he’ll teach depend on how we react. Did we thank him? Did we remain humble? Did we keep our integrity as Christians?  Regardless of the answer, there’s a lesson to be learned.

Now, keep in mind that while God is teaching us lessons, if we don’t get it right, we’ll probably have to repeat it. We have to ask God to help us be sensitive to his voice and directions. The scripture says, “Shew me thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths. "Psalm 25:4

As we continue to experience life, we must remember that there are so many lessons to be learned. We’re in God’s classroom. Ask him for clarity, and he’ll show you. God’s lessons may not be easy, but they are always purposeful. Let’s get the lesson and walk in God’s way.
